what makes the government think that rising prices is going to stop smokers from smoking. They have spent an aweful lot of money already, when this money could have channelled else where.

I am a non smoker and I'd be dead against a government banning smoking, because I'd wonder what else they are going to decide to do......putting the price up and stopping smoking in public so we don't have to walk through stubs..O>K> anything else is an overkill!

As a smoker a total ban is inevitable, so I accept the unchangible. but I think raising the price on high tar cigarettes and sloly lowing the allowable tar until it is not worth the price or effort. Better than those allergy patches or bloody awful gum.

It's not up to me to decide for every-one else.
